Images Photography By Cori Shaw Images By Darrin Farrell Southern Maryland photographer Darrin Farrell was quite young when the picture bug bit him. “The first photograph I vividly remember taking was on a field trip in fourth grade,” he said. His interest was piqued. “I always had an interest in photography, but never really thought of it as a career,” he said. “When I was in the tenth grade, as a Christmas present, I received my first serious camera with interchangeable lenses.” After that, he said, he was constantly taking pictures, mostly of wildlife and nature, but he was still unsure how to make a living at his passion. “In college, I took a few basic photography courses, and it was at this point I decided somehow I was going to start a business,” Farrell said. “I started developing blackand-white photos in my spare bedroom, and 18 years later, here I am today.” 86 | SOUTHERN MARYLAND WEDDINGS WINTER / SPRING 2009
