LIMOUSINES driven themselves to your wedding or rented a car at the airport. They may also carpool with other guests staying at the same hotel. That being said, you do have the option of renting shuttle buses, vans or minivans to get everyone from place to place. This is especially nice after the reception to prevent those who have been drinking from driving. If your budget allows, It’s also a nice gesture to help guests get to and from the airport. Make sure you have a headcount of who will need a ride before you rent vehicles -- this will prevent you from having too much or too little space. On the day of your wedding, make sure the bridal party and the families are able to get to the reception. (Imagine leaving a bridesmaid or a grandmother behind!) If you’re not renting extra vehicles, ask family and party members to carpool (plan ahead of time who is going to drive) and put someone in charge of making sure everyone is accounted for before leaving the ceremony site. The last bit of advice we have is to start thinking about your wedding day transportation -- whether you’re renting a limo, horse-drawn carriage or something else -- about six months before your wedding. This is especially important if your ceremony falls during prom season (usually April to June) when limousine rentals may be at a premium. SoMdWeddings.com | 75
