REAL SOUTHERN MARYLAND WEDDINGS Steve Headley had a little help on his proposal. He planned a day out in Baltimore for his then-fiancee Carrie Fox and their children on Mother’s Day, May 11, 2007. “The first thing we did was get on one of those beautiful boats and rode on it for about an hour,” Carrie recalled. “We had a lot of fun, and the kids really loved being on the water.” As they headed back to the dock, Steve told Carrie how lucky he was to have her in his life. “He whispered something in our son’s ear, and our four-year-old said, ‘Mommy, will you marry Daddy?’” Carrie said. “Then I looked at Steve, and he was down on one knee and asked me to marry him.” She said yes, and when they got off the boat, Carrie’s parents were waiting to congratulate them. Everyone went to dinner to celebrate. Carrie and Steve were the winners of the Dream Wedding Giveaway at the 2008 A Bridal Affair bridal show. They worked with some of Southern Maryland’s premier wedding service providers to plan their Aug. 29, 2008 wedding. Carrie, a student, and Steve, assistant director of Classified and Advertising at The Maryland Independent, met in earth science class at Thomas Stone High School in Waldorf. “Our two best friends were dating, and that’s how we started hanging out,” Carrie said. “We pretty much hit it off instantly and are still going strong more than eight years later!” SoMdWeddings.com | 17
