The smaller 17/8" (47.6mm) bore creates higher air velocity, which results in better low and midrange response and power. The Super ‘G’ is best for street engines of no less than 100 cubic inches. However, in spite of the fact that the Super ‘G’ larger 21/16" (52.3mm) bore allows more air to pass, and provides more peak horses, slower air velocity at lower rpm causes poor throttle response and weaker midrange torque in smaller engines. For most engines of 90-100 cubic inches we recommend the Super ‘E’ for better low and midrange response. But if peak horsepower is what you want, a Super ‘G’ would be appropriate. John Parham was bitten by the motorcycle bug very early in his life. He dreamed of owning his own motorcycle shop and of making a living working with what he loved. John also found a lifelong partner in Jill at a very early age. They married in September of 1974 at the age of 20 and literally started with nothing. But Jill loved motorcycles as well and wanted to see John follow his dream. Two years later the dream became a reality when John opened his first shop with his high school science teacher. They pooled their meager resources and started D&J Cycles in Anamosa, IA. After four years in business John and his partner decided to pursue different markets. So in 1979 John created J&P Cycles® to focus on parts and service for Harley-Davidson® motorcycles. Service and repair soon hit a slow period so John decided to try passing out flyers at swap meets he attended with various parts he had for sale. Parham Enterprises and was joined by three more Parham ventures. J&P Promotions traveled across the country promoting and attending over 50 motorcycle events a year including bike shows, drag races and swap meets. Zacharia Advertising and Publications produced programs for many of the Promotions events, an International Motorcycle Event Guide, and a monthly newspaper called the Motorcycle Dispatch. Circulation of the Dispatch grew to over 20,000 copies. Finally, Nostalgic Toy Creations followed Parham’s love of antique bikes and toys and produced Die Cast motorcycle related collectible banks and cars. By far the largest help came in 1992 when John’s wife Jill left her job in Cedar Rapids to officially take over as J&P Cycles® Vice President. With Jill’s help J. Parham Enterprises continued its steady growth and by 1998 J&P Cycles® started to take center stage. John decided it was the right time to start selling off events, retreat from the toy bank business, and do fewer publications through Zacharia. By 1999, J&P Cycle's® catalog had reached 692 pages and the Harley® bug was spreading like wildfire. It was the perfect time for J&P Cycles® to blossom. Today John Parham's wildest dreams have become a reality.
