We perform all of the operations listed above, and then add our stainless steel oversize valves and all new valve seats. Special attention is paid to cleaning and smoothing the “bowl “ area of the head, just above the valves, and the critical transition between the port and the combustion chamber. Our valve guides are U.S.-manufactured manganese-bronze, ideally suited for today’s no-lead fuels which do not provide the lubrication of leaded fuels. Intake guides are cut to accept premium Teflon® valve-guide seals, widely recognized as giving superior sealing and long wear. We suggest using intake guides on both the intake and exhaust side of the head. Installing Teflon® seals on the exhaust side will reduce oil burning and extend cylinder-head life. The Teflon® seals will not fit original Alfa guides. A core deposit will be collected at time of shipment. Heads machined more than 0.010” cannot be accepted as cores. Stock head height (4-cylinder) is 4.41”. Cracked head core deposits will be adjusted for cost of repair. Broken studs or any other damage may also reduce the amount of your core refund. 1300, 1600, and 1750 valve jobs can only be done on your original head due to the scarcity of cores.
