The simplest, most effective way to gain horsepower is to increase valve duration and lift with a set of Centerline’s Performance Camshafts. These cams work well on their own, but paired with our Big-Valve cylinder head and performance exhaust headers they will really let your engine breathe! We offer two exciting new options in 4-cylinder performance cams, our Euro+ cam and our 11.1 mm high performance cam. All of our cams are new, and feature nitriding (surface hardening) for durability in performance Alfa motors. For the single-cam V/6 engines, we offer Alfa’s excellent 164S camshafts. Performance Camshafts are intended for off-road use only, though engines with our camshafts have passed the Colorado State IM-240 pollution test for all-applicable years. There are no discounts on cams. When changing camshafts, carefully inspect your original camshafts and tappets. Lobes can become flat and will feel sharp because the leading edge of the lobe has worn. Tappets should show a smooth, circular wear pattern, but may be galled or pitted. A damaged lobe often means a damaged tappet and vice-versa. Damaged tappets will destroy a new cam. Our warranty only covers new cams when all tappets are replaced. Modern Engine Oils and Your Alfa’s Camshafts: You may have read articles about the removal of Zinc (actually, ZDDP, or Zinc Dithiophosphate) as an anti-wear additive in modern engine oils, and the problems this is presenting for older cars with flat-tappet valve trains. While we haven’t seen camshaft failures in Alfas caused by these new oil formulations, it certainly pays to be vigilant, do your own research, and seek out the best oil for your car, especially when breaking in new camshafts. We include Redline’s excellent Assembly Lube with each new camshaft sold, to ensure proper break-in. For even more protection, we also sell Redline’s New Engine Break-In Additive (see page 19), which can be added to conventional or synthetic oil for an extra dose of anti-wear additives. Given proper lubrication and regular inspection and adjustment of the valve train, your Alfa should keep revving high for many years to come! EURO+ CAMSHAFTS FOR 1300 THROUGH 2000 ENGINES • Our new Euro+ camshafts offer just a little bit more lift and duration than Alfa’s famous European 2-Liter camshaft. They have a superior power-curve with much better low-/mid-range torque when compared to Veloce cams. Euro+ camshafts work well with either Normale single-carb or Veloce twin-carb induction and are a perfect mate with our 1400 Piston Kit. On 1750 and 2000 engines, they offer a nice increase in HP with a broader torque curve and no decrease in driveability. Nitrided for durability. NEW! Euro+ 10.5 mm Lift Camshaft, new each PC455 $192.00 of a high lift cam, while still retaining strong midrange power. Stock 1750 and 2000 cams have between 9.1 mm and 9.6 mms of valve lift. The increase to 11.1 mm provides a significant improvement in airflow through the combustion chamber, with a real seat-of-the-pants increase in power. They give excellent power and drivability with either Spica injection or dual-carbureted Alfa engines. With a smooth idle, they come “on-cam” at 3,000 RPM with a very linear rush to redline. NEW! 11.1 mm LIFT, 246 DURATION CAMSHAFT • These new performance cams were developed to give you all of the intoxicating top-end pull PC452 11.1mm Lift Performance Camshaft, new each PC452 $194.00 range torque. Our 11.1 mm lift camshaft on the intake valves with our new Euro+ 10.5 mm lift camshaft on the exhaust valves will provide a flat torque curve with very strong mid-range punch.
